A website can be launched in days or take several months. Both can be reasonable. Timeline depends on scope, decision speed, content readiness, integrations and how much design and testing the project genuinely needs.

Typical timeline ranges

A focused landing page with prepared content can move quickly. A bespoke business website commonly needs several weeks for structure, design, development, content and QA. Ecommerce and custom platforms need additional time for data, integrations and operational testing.

Treat these as planning ranges rather than promises. Complexity matters more than page count.

Discovery saves time later

Clarifying audiences, content and technical dependencies before design prevents expensive changes during development. Skipping this phase can make the first week look faster while slowing the rest of the project.

For simple sites, discovery can be lightweight. The point is clarity, not workshops for their own sake.

Content is the most common bottleneck

Design cannot be final when nobody knows how much copy, imagery or product data must fit. Decide who writes, approves and supplies content early.

For redesigns, migration and redirect mapping also need dedicated time if search visibility matters.

Approval speed directly affects delivery

A design round reviewed in two days keeps momentum. The same round reviewed by six stakeholders over two weeks changes the schedule. Establish one decision owner and consolidate feedback.

Urgent projects are possible, but they require equally urgent decisions from the client side.

Do not compress testing out of the plan

Forms, mobile layouts, redirects, analytics, ecommerce flows, accessibility basics and browser behaviour all deserve verification. A launch date is not useful if the first week is spent repairing preventable issues.

Our website development process structures these phases explicitly.
